| NICCOLO:
THE PRINCE |
| The
intriguing, powerful screenplay,
based on an original idea and story by Mia
Sperber and written by Mia Sperber and Stefano
Pratesi, focuses on the life and writings
of Niccolo Machiavelli, one of history’s
most enduring characters, forever remembered
for his astute and unassailable political
commentaries. But aside being a political
philosopher, Machiavelli was also a historian,
a musician, a poet and a comedic playwright.
The captivating story sheds light on previously
unknown portions of Machiavelli’s life
and writings, and confronts the image, forged
in the public’s eye, of a sinister and
heartless man who penned the phrase “The
end justifies the means”. The central
prism, through which the above is brought
to life, is that of Machiavelli as an experienced
and passionate lover. Love for politics and
love of women went hand in hand in our hero’s
life, who also passionately declared: “Fate
is a woman”. The fiery mingling of thoughts
and emotions created an amazing background
for his personality to shine, and makes for
a highly original and outstanding motion picture.
